社牛/社恐

shèniú/shèkǒng

Literally says

social cow / social fear

Actually means

a social superhero versus someone terrified of socializing

When to say it

A shèniú walks into a room of strangers and owns it in five minutes, a shèkǒng hides in the bathroom at parties. Everyone self-labels as one or the other. A great icebreaker word, use it to excuse yourself or to explain your friend.

Hear it in the wild

她是社牛,跟谁都能聊。

Tā shì shèniú, gēn shéi dōu néng liáo.

She's a social machine, she can talk to anyone.

我不是社牛,聚会先躲角落。

Wǒ búshì shèniú, jùhuì xiān duǒ jiǎoluò.

I'm no social butterfly, I hide in a corner at parties.
