The shop was small and full of second hand books.
书的味道有点特别，我很喜欢。
Shū de wèidào yǒu diǎn tèbié, wǒ hěn xǐhuan.
The books smelled a little special, and I liked it.

Xiàng xià guò yǔ yǐhòu de tǔ.
It smelled like soil after the rain.

Lǎobǎn shì yī wèi tóufa quán bái le de yéye.

There was one novel I read three times.
去年，我回到了那个城市。
Qùnián, wǒ huí dào le nàge chéngshì.
Last year I went back to that city.

Dào le yǐhòu, wǒ xiān qù le nà tiáo jiē.
After I arrived, I went to that street first.
学校还在，书店不在了。
Xuéxiào hái zài, shūdiàn bù zài le.
The school was still there, but the bookstore was gone.
门口有一张纸，上面写着四个字。
Ménkǒu yǒu yī zhāng zhǐ, shàngmiàn xiě zhe sì gè zì.
There was a piece of paper on the door with four characters on it.

Inside the book were a few characters the grandpa had written for me.
上面写着，孩子，要多看书。

It said, child, read more books.
