He did not play well, and it was always the same song.

Tóngyī gè dìfang, zǒng yào cuò hǎo jǐ biàn.
He always got the same part wrong, again and again.
刚开始的时候，我很烦。
Gāng kāishǐ de shíhou, wǒ hěn fán.
At first I found it very annoying.
我写东西的时候，声音从上面下来。
Wǒ xiě dōngxi de shíhou, shēngyīn cóng shàngmiàn xiàlái.
When I was writing, the sound came down from above.
我去敲过两次门。
Wǒ qù qiāo guò liǎng cì mén.
I went up and knocked on his door twice.
开门的是一位六十多岁的老先生。
Kāi mén de shì yī wèi liù shí duō suì de lǎo xiānsheng.
The door was opened by an old gentleman in his sixties.
他一听，不停地说对不起。
Tā yī tīng, bù tíng de shuō duìbuqǐ.
Once he understood, he kept saying sorry.
他说他年轻的时候就想学钢琴。
Tā shuō tā niánqīng de shíhou jiù xiǎng xué gāngqín.
He said he had wanted to learn the piano since he was young.
那时候没有钱，也没有时间。

Back then he had neither money nor time.
现在不工作了，想把这件事做完。

Sometimes I stood downstairs and listened to a whole song before going up.

Qùnián dōngtiān, yǒu yī gè xīngqī méiyǒu shēngyīn.
Last winter there was a week with no sound at all.
我觉得奇怪，上楼去看。
Wǒ juéde qíguài, shàng lóu qù kàn.
I found it strange and went upstairs to check.
老先生病了，在医院住着。
Lǎo xiānsheng bìng le, zài yīyuàn zhù zhe.
The old gentleman was sick and staying in the hospital.
又过了一个月，声音回来了。
Yòu guò le yī gè yuè, shēngyīn huílái le.
A month later the sound came back.

Nà tiān wǎnshang jiǔ diǎn, nà shǒu gē yòu xiǎng qǐlái le.
That night at nine, the same song sounded again.
我坐在椅子上，安安静静地听完了。
Wǒ zuò zài yǐzi shàng, ān ānjìng jìng de tīng wán le.
I sat on my chair and listened quietly until the end.
我写了几个字，放在他的门口。
Wǒ xiě le jǐ gè zì, fàng zài tā de ménkǒu.
I wrote one sentence and left it at his door.
那几个字是，请您一直弹下去。
Nà jǐ gè zì shì, qǐng nín yìzhí tán xiàqù.
The sentence was, please keep playing.
第二天晚上，钢琴的声音没有停。
Dì èr tiān wǎnshang, gāngqín de shēngyīn méiyǒu tíng.
The next night the piano did not stop.
我也再没有烦过。
Wǒ yě zài méiyǒu fán guò.
And I was never annoyed again.
